Conference Facilitation

There are many conferences run each year and so much money is spent on them. Often the return on this expense is extremely low if at all. Something that is becoming more and more frustrating for "C" staff as they question the payback in such a large investment.

Getting people to learn and action things from an internal conference is crictical. However usually the conference simply becomes a talk fest and a social gathering where far to much of nothing happens.

The reason this happens is usually different departments put their sessions together for conference and there is no over arching objective stated for the conference. So each group gets up and does their thing and before you know it you have a conference inundated with PowerPoint slides that just dump information on the delegates.

Depending on your desired outcomes for your conference I work with you to facilitate sessions throughout the time you are together to ensure action plans are developed before leaving conference. I ensure you have an overall objective that answers these three quetsions;

  • What do you want them to do differently when they leave?
  • What do you want them to learn or take away?
  • How do you want them to apply the information given?

Its about taking the knowledge gained and turning it into action plans. By doing this you get the delegates more engaged in the conference.

There is nothing greater seeing a client implement strategies discussed at a conference and winning a new piece of business because of those discussions.

I see it as the missing link - a person who can faciltate practical and engaging sessions so that you increase your chances of a return on your conference investment.
